WalletEase

A behavioural finance companion designed to help young professionals understand the impact of everyday spending and make more confident financial decisions.

01 — Understanding the Opportunity

Most finance apps help you reflect, not decide.

They organize your finances after a transaction happens, but rarely support the decision before it does. The opportunity wasn't better tracking, it was helping users make more informed spending decisions in the moment.

01

Tracking isn't guidance

Recording expenses doesn't influence the decisions that created them.

02

Data lacks context

Numbers reveal spending patterns, but not the behaviours behind them.

03

Goals feel disconnected

Long-term goals should be visible when everyday spending decisions are made.

The opportunity wasn't to build a better tracker, it was to bridge the gap between spending today and achieving tomorrow's goals.

02 — Product Strategy

Four questions, not four features.

Instead of one dashboard trying to answer everything at once, WalletEase is organized around the actual questions a person cycles through, in this order, on repeat, for as long as they use the product.

“How am I doing?”

Home

Overview. Understand your financial position at a glance with safe-to-spend, financial health, and key insights.

“What happened?”

Activity

History. Review every transaction through searchable records, filters, and financial summaries.

“Why did it happen?”

Insights

Understanding. Discover AI-powered patterns, trends, and reflections that explain your spending behaviour.

“What am I working towards?”

Goals

Progress. Stay focused on your savings goals with live progress tracking and future projections.

03 — Visual Language

Designed to lower a pulse, not raise one.

Every colour, spacing, and visual cue was chosen to reduce cognitive load and create a calm, focused financial experience.

Insights

Where the “why” gets answered.

Category totals are only the entry point. The layer underneath compares this month to the last, so a pattern reads as a pattern, not a coincidence.

Quick Actions

Instead of navigating across multiple screens, users can instantly access the app's most common actions from anywhere.

Signature Experience

Purchase Impact — From tracking to decision-making.

Unlike traditional expense trackers, Purchase Impact previews how a purchase affects your finances before it's recorded, helping users spend with greater confidence.

Four tabs. One complete experience.

The navigation is structured around the user's financial workflow, from monitoring daily activity to understanding spending behaviour and progressing toward long-term goals.

05 — Reflection

What this product taught me about designing for behavior.

Friction can be the feature

Not every interaction should be optimized for speed. Purchase Impact intentionally adds a moment of reflection, helping users make more conscious financial decisions before they spend.

Calm is a design decision, not a default

Financial products often rely on urgency and constant alerts. WalletEase uses a quieter interface, allowing information—not anxiety—to guide decisions.

Good products don't decide for users

WalletEase doesn't budget, predict, or coach. It simply provides the right information at the right moment, enabling users to make informed decisions themselves.
